Interior Design Trends 2027: The Tile-Forward Report

Every October we publish the report designers bookmark for the year ahead. After Interior Design Trends 2026 called the tile-forward year correctly, here’s the full interior design trends 2027 forecast — the five shifts shaping next year’s homes, and how tile leads each one.

1. The quiet-luxury floor

2027’s luxury isn’t loud; it’s material. Classic patterns in muted palettes — the kind that read “this was always here” — replace statement everything. Louise, a French floral geometric, is the archetype: elegance that doesn’t date because it never chased a trend.

2. Optical depth: the 3D revival

Flat minimalism is out of gas. 2027 embraces patterns that play with perception — cube illusions, tumbling blocks, dimensional geometry. Rombos Gris delivers the effect in three grays: a floor that shifts as you walk past it.

3. Floors climb the walls

The tile wainscot, the patterned bar front, the floor-to-wall wrap: 2027 treats floor patterns as room patterns. Running one design from floor up the wall unifies small spaces and gives restaurants and powder rooms their photographed moment.

The wrap effect: one pattern, two planes, one unforgettable room.

4. Repair-culture interiors

The anti-fast-furniture movement reaches surfaces: 2027 clients ask “can it be restored?” before “what does it cost?”. Cement tile’s answer — re-polish, re-seal, never replace — makes it the reference material for the repair-culture home. Care basics live in our cleaning guide.

5. Rooms with a source story

The 2027 interior name-drops its makers: who wove the rug, who poured the tile. Handmade surfaces with real provenance beat lookalikes because the story is part of the spec. It’s the theme we traced in handmade vs. machine-made tiles.
