Here is the same treatment for the shape everyone is asking about — fishscale tile, also sold as mermaid or scallop tile, now in our in-stock collection in eight hand-poured colors.
The shape, the sizes, the math
Our fishscale is a 20×20 cm (8×8 inch) scallop in cement tile — pigment through the body, not printed. Coverage runs about 2.4 pieces per square foot installed in the classic overlapping layout; order 10% extra for the cut rows where scales meet walls and edges. Layouts: which way do the scales point?
Points down is the classic fish-scale read — water-like, calm, the default for showers and backsplashes. Points up reads as petals, softer and more floral. Horizontal runs (scales sideways) are the 2027 wildcard for feature walls. Pick one direction per surface and commit; mixing directions reads as an install error, not a design choice.

Where it works
Shower and bathroom walls: the signature move. Kitchen backsplashes: maximum character per square foot. Commercial walls and bar fronts: the texture that shows up in every customer photo. Floors: fully rated for it — this is cement tile, the same material as our century-proven squares.

Color strategy
Eight colorways in stock: white and charcoal as the neutrals, aqua, turquoise, sky blue and deep blue carrying the water story, verde canadá for the green wave, salmon for warmth. Dark tones outline each scale; light tones read as quiet texture. Grout rule: match the tile tone (details in the grout color guide) so the shape stays the star.
